Formula 1 2011

Postby Musicraft » Tue Jan 11, 2011 12:13 am

A little early but teams will be launching their new cars in the coming weeks ready for the start of testing in a months time in Valencia.

2011 will have twenty races on the calender (with India now also hosting a race), the return of KERS and new tyres with the return of Pirelli. With nine weeks to go before the first race in Bahrain and with new world champions Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull determined to defend their titles F1 2011 looks promising :) What will make it truly interesting is if Schumacher has a competitive car this year as it will be good to see him spice things up! :D

Btw, Renault have retained Petrov for 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Thanks

I'll be hoping for a McLaren championship win, and really hoping for a better showing from Williams this season :)

Artificial wet races to possibily feature in F1 races :)

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/89706

I really hope this does happen as i've also had this same belief for quite a while now that F1 needs to take a leaf from mother nature as over the years wet races have pretty much spiced thing up :D

Thanks

Heard this on R5 today as well, it seems to be a serious suggestion. Definitely the wet races are more exciting - both the extra driving skill required and the tactical side. But it's more dangerous for the drivers, so I can't see they'll ever do this? Plus, it might encourage McLaren style data-theft or hacking by the teams to try and work out the artificial rain programme being used in advance!

Hi Ben

I truly hope this happens :D

Btw, if this were to go ahead then i think the FIA should give me the controls so that i decide when to dampen the track with water

This really does sound like a good idea. It might bring the excitement back that we had when the cars were Turbocharged

Vettel wins the Australian GP :)

I think FIA and the teams need to rethink the use of DRS system as i didn't feel it achieved much :? The DRS should not be limited to one or two parts of the track. I think DRS should be available at any point on the track :D and what the FIA and the teams could do then is to restrict its use to lets say a maximum of twenty times per race :)

Thanks

Good to see Hamilton win a rather action packed Chinese GP (no doubt helped by Pirelli's tricky tyres) :D

The European leg of the season starts this weekend with the Turkish GP :)
