History of the C1 center speaker

Postby Mariner » Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:16 am

Hi everybody,

is anyone able to tell me more about the C1 center speakers history.
How many different models, what do they look like, and what kind of drivers do they had.

Thanks a lot !

Until now i had found a few pictures, which i try to get in the right line.

First Version:

Second Version:

Third and newest Version:

So where are the differences?
As i recognize from the pictures:
The second version had another HT-driver than the first
The third version seems to have complete other drivers than version one and two.

Which version would you prefer to play with a SCM10 (front) and SCM7 (rear)?
Both first versions!

Are there more versions out there??
Is it possible that someone has a picture?
Are there more differences ??

You seem to have 3 options...........

1.........try to score another identical SCM 10 for use as a centre.........perfect match.

2.........just use whichever C1 model you can afford/acquire.

3.........move your (assuming older model) SCM 10's to the back......buy the latest SCM 10's and latest matching C1
Sell SCM 7's or keep for a 7.1 setup.

Good Luck

Thanks for your ideas !

Mmmhh....
i have also a pair of SCM20 (first gen.) in the background.
Maybe i should use the 20th as fronts and the10th both as a center.
Unfortunately i have the impression that the 10th are sounding better in my small room
but maybe with a little room correction it might change ??

The first and second version had the same tweeter, but a different wave guide (1st used the Vifa wave guide that came with the tweeter off the shelf, for the second the tweeter was removed from its wave guide and pressure fit into the baffle with a custom wave guide around it).
The latest (third picture) has the ATC tweeter.
