Ah, OK!

That dreadful "pelmet" thing they've stuck on is utterly appalling. Someone should tell ATC to bin it.

Yes, not impressed with the look of the "pelmet" either! Good news on the new tweeter. Price and availability in the UK anyone?

I have ordered one, was told approx 8 weeks.
In the veneer shown just under £ 30,000 :D

Don't mind the pelmet, a result of Billy Woodman's liking of Art Deco

Hi Dogill looking forward to your thoughts when your new 100s arrive. Actually I was meaning the price of the new tweeter as we'll get our 100s upgraded when available and was just curious about the cost.

hi Dogill,

congratulations on the purchase!

since you ordered the special edition, do you have any experience with the anniversary amps? do they give a significant SQ improvement over the regular amps as per the price difference (of course counting the more expensive design too)?

thanks for the feedback, if you have any.

I had the 150s with anniversary amps before but never heard the standard ones so I can't tell.

I suspect there will be a difference as ATC recently improved the amp in their professional 20 model , yet Ben Lilly said in the interview they didn't change the anniversary amp as they were happy with it.

do you know if the improved amps from the new pro 20s will make their way to rest of the active speakers (50s, 100s, etc) or it's just the 20s that will enjoy the improved amps?

No no changes to what is working fine in 50 on up. We all wanted more low end capability in the new PRO20Active vs the previous metal cabinet active 20. BTW this same amp technology appears in Hi FI first in the SIACD.

They're here ! Pictures following soon !
They are absolutely massive, subjectively bigger than my old 150s , perhaps because of the new plinth.
The cabinet is slightly curved.
The sound is very "direct" - less reticent in the treble than the old models but very clean, no fatigue.
Orchestral string sound is the best I have ever heard from any speaker.

Congratulations Dogill!

I look forward to more feedback ... once everything settles in. I'm curious about comparisons in the tweeter area with the SEAS unit. I did have perceived problems, not least in the treble area, but they've been solved by various improvements upstream, so I'm actually not worrying about tweeters presently! But still, your comments are welcome.

Anyway, enjoy your 100SEs.
