ATC scm7s & 11s on-wall monitors

Postby MattSPL » Sun Nov 28, 2010 12:05 am

ATC now have the scm7s & 11s on-wall monitors for surround sound duties.

What do you think?

I think these are great. I would certainly consider these for rears if I am ever in my own accommodation again.
I wonder if there is a grille or some fabric cover solution with these?
If the thing is on or in the wall the colour and the whole look is a different story to a standalone speaker. Needs to be discreete...

I think the 6 holes on the outside edges look like they will be for the grille.

They will certainly provide more options for a surround setup :)

Certainly interesting if I ever have the room where this set-up will work.
Currently I'm in a 5.1 set-up, with my sofa up to the back wall and side wall's quite some distance away. So regular freestanding SCM11's work better.

Good find Matt :D Just 125mm deep, so definitely more options. Could be very handy in a 7.1 / 9.1 setup.

Thanks for the extra info Ben :)
They would be great in a dedicated home cinema room.

I was thinking, if you could bring yourself to do it, you could paint/wall paper the sides of them to suit your decor :D
They could really blend in that way.

Cheers

Are they available / can they be made with the traditional wood veneer?

Hi Ben

Yes, they are available although they would probably be a premium for extra finishes.

All the best

Hi Rick,

thanks :)

That's fair enough. I don't think I'd want any floral wallpaper on my ATCs  They'd look pretty classy in wood veneer on a plain coloured wall. Do you know if there are any compromises in SQ with the new cabinet? I imagine ATC have done a good job with them :D

Take care,
Ben

Are these still available?

I am looking to add to my system, i have 40's for the left and right, am thinking of a 50clasic (passive) for centre, with 7s or 11s for rear and side.

not convinced that a c3 is the right centre.

if the 7s and 11s are still out there, does anyone know a uptodate guide price?

thanks

AFAIK these are still available. Maybe Rick will be able to update with the current price, although I expect there'll be a rise in the next month or so as for the rest of the line up. Can I ask, if you're going for a large / floorstanding centre why you aren't thinking of a third matching SCM40?

a 40 in the centre would be great, but it would have to be on its side to fit under the screen.

hence the 50 passive (classic not tower, on its side), a 25passive would be great, but sadly none available

Fair enough. I suppose you could consider a 25a if your receiver has pre-outs or it might be worth asking ATC how much they would charge for a custom passive 25. It might not be much more than the 50 and end up being a better match.
