Nikon 50mm vs Tamron 24-70

Postby kingabs » Fri May 03, 2013 12:05 pm

As tittle boys and girls i have taken 2 photos one on the Nikon 50mm 1.8 and another on the Tamron 24-70 2.8.

Below image taken on the Nikon 50mm 1.8G prime.

Below image taken on the Tamron 24-70mm 2.8.

Although one thing i have noticed that when using the Tamron i was able to get allot closer to the subject than the Nikon which makes for close up shots allot easier.

The colours look more vivid with the Nikon to me. Both nice images though :)

What was the f stop used in each photo and did you use the Tamron at 50 mm?

Your depth of field is controlled by the aperture as well as the zoom. The Nikon shot has more depth of field. The Tamron shot has a very narrow DOF - too narrow IMHO for the subject.
