Which 50mm Canon prime?

Postby crimsondonkey » Sun Feb 21, 2010 7:17 pm

When I had my old Olympus OM10 I loved the 50mm lens which I had - superfast and great in low light.

What should I be looking for to get the same versatility in a Canon 50mm?

Just read your other post which answers my question.
When I puzzled with conventional photography, I would have recommended something like a 50mm/1,2 or 1,4. However, nowadays I find myself getting lazy and using zoom-lenses basically continuously. I'm a big fan of wide angle, and although I have 50mm included in the range, using mostly 24 mm.
I'm not up to date with the latest Canon lenses, but any lens with a maximal aperture of less than 1.8 should help giving you the light-sensitivity that you are after. (Sigma also makes quite food lenses, though their strength is in zoom-lenses)
